Marcus Lincinius Crassus

NUMBER 7. Marcus Lincinius Crassus one of the most honoured men of the Roman empire and yet the wealthiest of men. Crassus grew up as the son of a prestigious general, Marcus was feared. The outrageous amount of money he attained brought power along side it. Crassus began his phenomenal journey, started purchasing the houses of Sulla's victims. Had Sulla confiscated all their belongings he sold them off cheap. Soon after Marcus became popular within the senate, using his wealth Crassus bought a whole army for him self which he commanded with his own free will. But within Crassus's life a foe emerged which made a fitting rival for Crassus this rival's name was Spartacus. This dictator Spartacus believed in equality which every Roman despised, soon after his hatred grow which led him commanding his own army. With M. Licinius Crassus in command, the tide was about to turn in the Romans favor. Initially, an over eager subordinate of Crassus led an attack on Spartacus that failed miserably. The two armies fought brilliantly but the victor was Spartacus this time. Spartacus's small rebel force was cornered in all directions no escape Crassus's army surrounded Spartacus. It was time to put an end to Spartacus once and for all. Spartacus's doom was inevitable.
In 53 BC Marcus Lincinius Crassus died his reign of terror died along with him.
